GM Lei Tingjie (20 years old) was awarded the GM title in March 2017 and won the Women's Chinese Championship a month later with 9 points of 11 games. GM Wei Yi (18 years old) won the male title with 8½/11.

So far 163 players from 22 countries have made their entries, of them 34 Grandmasters. Most of the 56 foreign players come from Denmark (11), China (9), India (7), Russia (5), Mongolia (4), Ukraine (3), Poland (2) and Spain (2). There are also entries from Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland,  Israel, Italy, South Africa and Switzerland.
